Uncover what makes you uniquely funny, courageous, and sublime!

This one-week intensive will invite you to delve deeper into your physical awareness while rediscovering your uninhibited and innate playfulness.

Exercises will be geared towards expanding your spontaneity and playfulness while widening the scope of your imagination and creativity. This workshop will provide you with tools to expand your imagination and the 'energy' it creates, while also experiencing the simple pleasure and ferocious generosity of performance.

Clowning will ignite your spirit while at the same time emphasizing the importance of a generous stage presence and a rich humanity. We will pursue the clown together in its messy and hilarious beauty. Your relationship with all other forms of drama will be enriched by the openness and reckless abandon that the clown requires.

Advanced Clown

Now that you have your clown, what’s next?

This extension course will explore and bridge the relationship between your clown and your work as an actor. Bring your clown out to play and let them guide you to explore infinite freedom. This course will deepen your clown state and prepare you to pursue your fun with ultimate commitment. The clown will encourage you to make bolder choices, free your emotional life and imagination, and surprise you with a talent you always knew you possessed!

Now that you have your clown, what’s next?

This extension course will explore and bridge the relationship between your clown and the process of starting to create a show. Bring your clown out to play, and let Budi and Fabio guide you in creating the most beautiful show in the world. What is beauty? Ah, my little one, this is the great question. Beauty is in joy, beauty is in a little heartbreak, beauty is in the storm that rages against all things. And beauty is also in the fall—the moments that scare us and challenge us to be brave!

Your clown will lead the way, encouraging you to make bolder choices, freeing your emotional life and imagination, and surprising you with the talents you always knew you possessed!

Pre-requisite:
This course requires prior completion of Discovering the Clown and Advanced Clown (with Fabio and Budi), or previous extensive clown training with Budi or Fabio.

3. Maskwork:
Journey into the enigmatic realm of mask work. Embrace the profound impact of nonverbal communication and explore the archetypal energies that masks embody, amplifying your ability to convey emotions and narratives through physical transformation and embodiment of an image.

4. Gamelan Orchestra:
Learn the intricate rhythms and melodies of the Gamelan orchestra, a traditional Balinese ensemble. Dive into the intricacies of playing Balinese percussion instruments, merging your musicality with the collective energy of the orchestra.

5. Kecak Chant-Dance:
Participate in the full-body Kecak, a Balinese ritual dance-drama that combines vocal chants with movement. Join the captivating circle of voices and bodies, exploring the interplay of vocal harmonics, rhythm, choreography, and storytelling in this unique and immersive art form.

Workshop Description:
This is an in-person workshop and is designed to both introduce Fitzmaurice Voicework® to people new to the work as well as provide those already familiar with the work with a more in-depth experience of their voice, breath, and body. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques of Fitzmaurice Voicework®: Destructuring®, to explore a free range of breathing and voice, and Restructuring®, to practice breath management and focused intention. Participants will then explore how these techniques apply to and support work with text, speech and articulation, and singing. You will finish the experience with a new understanding of your breath, your body, and your voice, and how to organically engage all three to speak or sing with a deeper sense of connection.
